In case anyone is interested: I saw Northern brewer is doing a variety pack deal. 3x beer ingredient kits for $85. All grain or extract. That is an especially smokin deal on âall extractâ kits as they are more expensive (Blonde: $55, Red: $40, Stout $40 normal prices)
Kits donât include yeast, carbonation sugar, or other additive that you may use.
I scored a little chest freezer off the side of the road. The lid was a bit busted by the hinges preventing it from closing all the way. They cut the cord So (for testing purposes) I bypassed the thermostat, then stripped back the wires and shoved them into the plug holes of an extension cord. The compressor fired up and eventually made a layer of frost around the inside. Sweet! Unfortunately the inside stinks bad, real bad. Iâm guessing whatever food was inside all spoiled and made a nasty soup in it before the stink built up enough to be investigated. So I donât think the wife would be OK using it for food even after âcleaningâ.. but could be ok for beer.
I did some reasearch on pressurized fermentation. Seems to be a solid alternative to temp controlled lagering. It just requires a fermentation vessel that can handle pressure and an appropriate pressure regulator.. Many folks just pressure ferment in stainless kegs, then chill and serve⊠So I may have just now placed an order for four reconditioned ball lock kegs. I guess Iâm about to go head first into kegging.
I have finally made the LOOOONG transition from walking beans every day all summer (or so it seemed) to hauling home my Limited Batch gift from our fabulous tenant.
After mid-August with a spotter outside the field to guide you to where the wild sunflower escapes are poking above the canopy is no fun at all. Sometimes the garden spiders are big enough to name.
