That seems to be missing the point of the challenge if I understand correctly. Only and all of the 3/4" partial sheets of material can be used for the cabinet… Not an extra 1/8 of veneer.
Did I miss something?

Initial post sounds like veneer is allowed as long as the final thickness doesn’t exceed 0.75", so the 1/8" veneer is fine as long as it’s not applied to 3/4" nominal OSB (.688 actual), as that plus .125" of veneer seems like it would exceed the limit by more than any reasonable allowance?
Would 3/4" nominal handi-panel material plus any veneer resulting in a finished thickness less than or equal to .75" be acceptable?
I am not in high school anymore. I don’t have to use factory edges. And maybe I don’t have to use the factory face. I probably won’t do it . Some of my words are meant to be slightly provocative, to provoke conversation, that is all.
I think this challenge is pretty tame. I have a few ideas that I think will push it a little.

Just trying to keep it pretty even keel on thickness for everyone. Finish or paint adds a few thousandths, so that is minimal. Just stating that veneer should be included in the 0.75" spec to have material as equal as possible.
Of course, OSB, MDF, Ply, PB, etc; use your preference.
I wanted a simpler premise, but not unnoteworthy or easy theme. I do not think this is the easiest challenge we’ve done.
Up here in the Great White North, our MDF is a true 3/4", but ply is metric, is the metric close to 3/4" acceptable?

Just did the math and 19.05mm is 0.75". If it truly is 17.5mm ply, then you have ability for 1.5mm thickness veneer if you wish.
Can I use equivalent square inches of three-quarter inch material and qualify? Meaning, do I have to use the cutouts or can I use equivalent square inches?
This may seem like it would comply, John, but this would give a person an advantage in having a bigger piece of material to use that something could be made from. I also don’t think this is in line with the direction of the theme. It is just not how it is supposed to be done.
