First time cut/buff. Definitely should have followed what I researched, but stopped at 1000 grit before going with stage 1 of the 3 stage 3M purple compound system. It got glossy, but still had some fine scratches.

Going back to try again finishing out sanding to 3000 before compounds.

You probably have it all figured out…but I like this stuff for 3000 and 5000 grit.

Harbor Freight has high grits for orbital sander. Meant for wetsanding metal, but worked really well when I wet upsanded my VersaBox cabs.

If you want high gloss you need to work it from 1000 and go to 7000. For paint it doesn’t have to be that crazy. 2000 and then compound with a good buffer. After that a light compound with a foam pad.

Second round of cut and buff done. Still not “perfect”, but definitely better. Not sure if maybe I didn’t spend enough time with the 1200 or what. The thing is, you really can’t tell until you get up into the polishing compounds. Honestly at this point I’m being picky, it’ll be fine for all intents and purposes.

Drivers are in, running impedance sweeps, all seems good. Hit the woofers with some bassy tracks. 😎

So far Vitux is in close agreement with Omnimic measurements. The low end is the most off, to be expected in room. Otherwise starting to sound proper.

I didn’t change anything from the mono version and I’m honestly amazed. Of course this has me listening to all my normal tracks and has already inspired me to make a demo for the upcoming InDIYana meet.

I do have parts on order for a couple impedance notches for the mid and woofer. I think the crossing point can be a little better, but so far so good.

When compressed down the circuit looks realy weird at first. Took me a bit of time to wrap my head around.

I’m seeing 1st order highpass with the 50uf, and 2nd order lowpass with the .7mH and 6.8uF. Looks like the .47uF + 20Ω is a tank on that .7mH. You can see the valley it creates at 10khz in the filter output. The big values on the parallel RLC I bet are supressing the resonance peak. Finally, series and parallel padding resistors mixed in (12Ω, 10Ω).
