GAS Great American Sound 25” Planar Drivers

Custom designed 25.5" stainless steel planar drivers from Paul Allen’s yacht Octopus. They were used throughout the ship including a sound studio and theater. During a ship remodel, they were carefully removed, tested and listed for sale.

They are 10 ohm, use 60 neodymium magnets each and weigh 2.8 lbs. 4.5" wide and about 0.25" deep. 150-18 kHz, 93db. Neutrik speakON NL2 connectors with mating connectors.

I have 4 of them and would like to sell as a set. $125 each or $500 for the set.

Very rare and unique set of planar drivers. I just have too much stuff to put these to use.

I did not see this post.

Measuring the carver amazings ribbon …

Are the open on the back?

Where are you located?

They remind me of the ATC (not that ATC) planars that show up periodically.

I do not want these. At all. Because you’re definitely not within a few hundred miles of Las Vegas. Right?

ugh, no.

Eric, I think Dan is trying to talk himself out of it, and he is in Vegas, asking the seller.

I don’t know where @Getdadams is located, hopefully reasonable from Louisville.

Yes these are open back with a piece of felt covering the back.

I’m located in Dubuque Iowa

Sorry I checked and don’t have a picture of the back on my phone. I can open the box and pull one out and take a picture when I get home if you want.

Oh hey, I’m from Dubuque and my sister still lives there. Do I win?

Edit: Seriously though, I’ll take them (if no one else has called them) and can probably just have her meet you in town. For anyone that wants a pair (as I only need a pair) she’ll probably be meeting me in Ankeny or Ames come IowaDIY.

They’re yours if you want them. Thanks

Oh I’d like a set, but logistics dictates I don’t. Iowa is out there, can’t imagine what shipping would be. Probably still a good deal even with shipping.

How much to ship a pair to me @ 35973-2443 down in Alabama??

I am interested in a pair for my studio - imagine the phase response . . .

Sold to Dan. Thanks Dan!

Thank god there aren’t any timestamps on quotes, otherwise it might look like I succumbed within no time at all!

I bet we all just checked the time stamps. You made it 7 hours. I must admit you outlasted me on many occasions. Hopefully these drivers are making music again soon.

If I were in Iowa, a set would have been mine.
