Try cutting it with an electric carving knife - we used to make custom Bonhaus computer cases cutting 4” thick foam back in the early 80’s for work. [Give you a reason to buy/cook a turkey come Thanksgiving, too . . .].

Glad I bought more veneer than I needed. 1st cabinet was a bit of a struggle but it’s done and ready for the baffle to be trimmed. Not perfect, but it’s passable. This second box has 2 sides veneered and I thought I was rounding 3rd when I realized I had misaligned an edge by a mm. Glue was still tacky and it grabbed immediately despite not even touching it with the iron. Lesson learned and I figure I’m only out ~$10.00 and 30 minutes of work.

Much better outcome tonight. I have a few minor cracks to fill, but at least they’ll look presentable from 5 feet. This has been a good learning experience. I was using too much glue on the veneer, causing it to ripple. Softener did too, at least with these pieces.

So far it’s looking like 30 attendees and 20 projects. I’m sure there will be last minute entries and folks showing up who didn’t register because of my crappy, mostly unpublished registration link. Next year the whole IOWA event process will be simpler. We (well, Jason) made a lot of technology changes this year. It’s only getting better! See everyone very very soon.
