If it is the Oppo BDP-95, then it has analog unbalanced RCA stereo outputs as well as analog balanced XLR stereo outputs. It also has optical digital outputs as well as coax (75 ohm) digital outputs (S/PDIF). Spec page in the user manual says the output level is 2.1Vrms (RCA) or 4.1Vrms (XLR) @ 0dbFS.

Working late trying to get my system going for Iowa. I often lose track of time when I get working on a difficult project. I’m installing and debugging a remote control system for the Hypex amps. And researching what I need for cable hookups. The Hypex amps can input almost anything: Balanced or unbalanced analog (RCA or XLR), AES digital, Coax digital, lighttube digital (toslink). It’s a real can of soup. I need to do some more research and testing to figure out what cables (and lengths) that I need for my Iowa hookup.

Do you remember how far apart the speakers are in that room? I need to order some speaker cable.
Just a quess but I would say about 12 to 15 feet.

I ordered three mono 15 foot long digital RCA cables to hook up my speakers to JR’s Oppo player. Each cable has a reflective RF impedance of 75 ohms, so they will work for a digital S/PDIF type connection as well as a standard unbalanced analog RCA type connection.
I was wondering. Should I start another thread to discuss the pros and cons of analog verses digital cable connections, to avoid hijacking this thread? I have been doing alot of research lately in this area and I think a separate thread to discuss this topic would be very helpful to me and others as well. I’m talking about a thread to discuss the technical aspects of the cable hookups, like impedance and length. Not the debate about sound quality of overpriced or cheap cables.

Sure Bill, that thread should be interesting. I typically use subwoofer rca cable for coax spdif, that are a bit thicker and better insulated than cheap rca cables and are typically mono compared to stereo rca. Though I have not run any measurements to see the difference in any measurable characteristics.

I’ll be there. A couple of years ago, I think I brought these clone-homage-Devore ripoffs. About five years ago, I built them as something to occupy my mind as my Dad was winding his life down. They Very nice, but not BIG theater. We are contemplating a downsize of life and that means speakers! I’d like to make a deal with someone who might be interested in doing their own XO or another project with the drivers. I don’t want to just bring the drivers and fire sale them just yet. I’ll bring them along if there is any interest.

Quick question on the personal demo tracks, what media and format do you need them in to play them? If I have usb drive with them in .wav or .flac, is that good or should I bring it on a cdr in a specific file format? I’d prefer usb if possible. I have plenty of those just hanging around. I think I’d have to go out and buy some cdr’s if that’s required. I just don’t keep those around anymore.
