The Five Worst Upgrades in Hi-Fi (Stop Wasting Money)

I haven’t even used a Mundorf AMT. No worries.

The Dayton AMTHR4 or AMT2-4, Airborne 4001 or 5002, or even some planars like the HiVi RT1.3WE, RT2HA, or RT2CA might work.

I suppose the Viawave tweeters, or the Atlas/BozHen models could represent well too. I have not used my BH yet to say how well.

The GRS-Fountek could be good too. While I have enjoyed the Neo3 and derivatives before, I find them harder to balance tonally to the point they can be prone to either sibilant or too dark sound while threading that needle. This quality can make the differences harder to discern.

Some good domes can be just fine for this job too, but I have found it easier with AMT/ribbons. The old 27TBFC has been a candidate for this I think. The newer Seas Titan 27TAC would do fine too. I just finished the Wanlu, and I find the TW030WA22 should be included too.

Due to varying spec, I’d stay away from the Aurum Cantus units.

Everyone knows that wind power is superior to hydroelectric and especially coal-generated power for serious audio listening. But I asked AI if solar power is problematic because of sunspots. This is a rabbit hole best left ignored. [removing tongue from cheek.]

Solar power tends to lead to overly bright tweeters, whereas hydropower tends to be over damped. Coal is dark.
