I was looking through the “new items” listed for sale at Audiophonics. This is a large reseller of audio electronics and DIY speaker parts in the EU, based in France. One of the new items is the Dayton Audio SS18-22 subwoofer from the Signature Series. The price was a shocking 659 Euros. OK, that is getting pretty pricey. I wonder how much it costs at PE? Answer: $399 with free shipping. The kicker is that the US Dollar is very weak right now, and the Dollar to Euro ratio makes things relatively more expensive. If you take 650 Euros and convert it back to Dollars, you get $768! So effectively, the cost over here is almost double and shipping is not free.
I don’t think this particular driver is going to be a big seller over here at this price point…
So my DIY friends, keep in mind that ya got it pretty good in the USA, with access to cheap and plentiful goods from “Jyna”!
