2026 ohio speaker design competition

Also, looked over the track list. But last time Andrew was there to ended using the same 3 track set for whole competition. Plus did quick listen to the Jamirobeegees and thought it sounded horribly mastered, was obnoxious tonality to me - I like Jamiroquai which had to jump over to make i wasn’t delusional.

That a giant 3d printed baffle of glued together sections? not see any seems, unless access to giant printer.

It’s translam Baltic Birch but didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. And has now cracked in places due to humidity changes. I’m going to carefully cut it off and remake the baffle, likely out of MDF.

I’m still undecided based on my racing schedule.

If I enter I’ll have a large over $300 2-way.

Jill confirmed last year that first register is not first to play. It’s a random slotting.

Last year, it went alphabetically by home country, I was first up in the <$300 category.

For anyone who has already registered, did you get an immediate confirmation email?

Yes, I did.

My confirmation was not immediate. I registered on Tuesday and got the confirmation e-mail a couple days later on Thursday (or Friday?).

Has anyone heard more about the setup on how they are going to do it?

The Church was so big with nice areas, do they have that much free space at the warehouse?

Quite curious too.

Gents,

Give me a little while and I’ll try to draw up a floorplan of our plans this year. The drawing may not be to scale but I will include rough room dimensions, etc.

Hopefully this will give y’all some idea of what to expect. The only area that will not have A/C is the speaker staging area in the warehouse. Quite a bit of space, just a little spread out.

So the old sales showroom is the new judging room. Interesting… Should be big enough.

Its a lot larger than you think with nothing in it. It feels quite a bit larger than the judging room at the church, and there are no drop ceilings. This might sound concerning regarding acoustics but the ceiling is probably the most damped surface in there right now. We are currently tearing out the little theater corner and countertops but the office will remain. We will be laying carpet once the demo is finished.

Curtains will be up around the walls as usual, and I am hoping to use a lot of the old perf board from the old shelving for damping along the walls as well. I ran down to snap a pick but our maintenance guys are still doing their thing so I didn’t bother.

If anyone has any specific questions I can do my best to answer them.

Is the Staging area the static display area for everyone’s speakers to be perused? Or an on deck area for those about to go before the judges?

The staging area is static, with tables and floor areas for each category as usual. If we have an on-deck area, it will be just outside the showroom door.

Cool. This will be just like going to the old MWAF tent sale. Instead of buying speakers and taking them out to our cars, we will be unloading finished speakers from our cars and setting them up in the same warehouse they came from. Like an upside down tent sale! :upside_down_face:

I didn’t get any email confirmation so I emailed Jill to confirm. But I also registered before they’d sent out the email saying it was open as I happened to go to the webpage and they had the registration fields up
