2026 ohio speaker design competition

Got the email a couple of weeks ago that registration for the Parts Express 2026 Ohio Speaker Competition is open, but I have not signed up yet.

Who else is thinking of going?

David.

Me, Eggguy, or stuccoman, whichever you prefer

I plan on going.

Should have added, Care to share, have you even started on what you are bringing?

I’m signed up. Should be bringing Duality Peerless. Still need to veneer them. Work schedule is screwed that week as the Feds are in doing an examination, so hoping I can get there Friday at a decent time but may be late when I roll in

I plan to go. I’ll be bringing my “Divide and Conquer” speakers. Have not registered yet. I’ll be completely re-doing the xovers based on Indy feedback. Since I still have enough time, I plan to remove the xovers and completely re-do my measurements at 2 meters instead of 1. Not getting a good validation match at 1 meter due to destructive interference on the tall RD40 drivers.

I will be bringing my:

(1) Argunas with the MAC-05 and HiVi TN25 in a DIY waveguide that I had at IndIYana and CSS Detroit last year but in a nicer cabinet; and

(2) Some slim towers that I gave up on at 6:00am Friday morning of last year’s SDC when I realized there was no chance getting them done. They are in the garage in the exact same place and condition as that morning and I have to cut off the baffle and figure out where something has gone wrong with the seal to the cabinet. SB26STC in a custom waveguide, SB13PFCR and dual 6-1/2 inch wool cone Silver Flute woofers in an ML-TL cabinet. With Movingue veneer.

Yep, I’m going. Gotta book the hotel room yet, but I’m registered for both Inquisidores (need to paint baffles) and Wanlu2. Yes, I asked and they will allow both with same box as 2 projects.

How long does it take you to swap out baffle & xover boards?

Maybe 15 to 20 minutes tops.

Are the Wanlu2 and the Inquisidores in the same SDC category? Just wondering if PE would allow me to enter two projects in the same category.

Yep. They are in >$300-small.

I’m pretty sure that that is okay.

I may skip Indy next year and fly out to SDC, have to see what’s up. Get some feedback on how things go this year with the changes.

This will be the first year I don’t attend in 14 years. Not counting the Covid year.

Sad days

Yeah, I just bought a house. I close in July.

Stalling on registering as don’t want to be first or second to play. Register my 20L 2 ways with graphene cone, revised to use yet another exotic tweeter viva vi loudspk, >300 small.

Then morphing dual 7 bass bins into 3 way speaker that for a friend, that think will beat his old klipsch towers he got from Sun television & appliances in early 2000’s. I made the folly of using particle shelf board for baffle where over time not hold up well to, actually tipped over and heavy epique7 ripped screws out from it. They’ll fall into >300 large.

Was tempted to turn some stand mount WMTMW cabs into a <300 proj, but need set of DA175’s that’ll snag if they have warehouse/tent sale - wasnt gonna buy new just to just giveaway the project nor burn effort+xover parts at this time. More fun to hook my friend up with hopefully good speaker, maybe some horse trading as he a handy man (my home diy ambition, energy stamina went down hill over recent years). Plus know he’ll fancy the thumping epique7’s more than I.
