That wavecor is pretty good sounding, probably the best value out there right now.

It seems that the Peerless Beast, the SB26ADC or the buyout Wavecor would be fine choices for a 2-way with the MAC-06. Since I have two of those on hand and none are needed from PE, and since this is my fourth or fifth version of “my last build ever”, I can forego the PE holiday sale.
So it seems I’ve recreated the mailbox. Measured gross volume is 13.8L, just short of my 14L target. Other than touch up and veneer, which SHOULD be simple enough, there isn’t much left with the boxes for now. On to the baffles to see if I can introduce some curves +/or facets to that end of things.

Late to the party but I built a pair of MTM’s with the MAC-6 drivers and the Beastmode Peerless tweeters. Nothing in particular was challenging designing the crossovers. Both drivers are nice to work with. I received some very positive compliments last year at InDIYana regarding those drivers and that design. i don’t think you can go wrong pairing those.

I hope to do with curves, contrast and grain what this example does with wood mosaic tiles. It was fortunate I saved some old remnants with some very interesting grain.

Are you talking veneer or hardwood?
I intend to try veneer first. I made a curved edge jig from masonite this morning so that I can trace repeatable matching cuts that I can shift and flip so that the curves are within a range, but aren’t matchy-matchy from transition to transition or baffle to baffle. I’ll know today if this method will work or not.
I am not equipped with a high quality bandsaw that would allow me to try this with thin hardwood sheets. It is possible it could be done by hand with a jigsaw by clamping two sheets together, but I’m gonna try the veneer first.

Proof of concept pulled off nicely. Now I need to fab up the pallets (baffles) for this little piece of art. This is way more fun than packing kitty litter. 
The bands will run horizontal, the grain will run vertical.

Baffle 1 current state. Thickness is 1-1/8". Roundovers are NOT attached and I may keep these or use different grain to be compatible with the maple. The cabinets will be a subdued medium dark stained sapele the next time you see them, so consider the contrast. Just a couple very fixable cosmetic items to address, some edge and corner sanding, and these will be ready to cut for drivers and port.
I am open to suggestions for a finish that will pop the figuring without darkening the wood very much.

Danish oil will pop the depth of the grain. Finish with polyurethane.

I had intended to feature low-profile banana jacks on the rear spine. Due to a lack of confidence that I could achieve that without breaching the cat litter mass, the jacks will be on the bottom and will require some 90 degree nanners. That means these cabs will sport feet. Another chance for curves to appear?
