Accuphase C-3850 Clone Preamp

So far everything seems to work and sound good. There is a pretty bad on/off pop with it. Since I want to use a trigger, I will need to correct this. I ordered a Dual Channel Speaker Protection Circuit Board from Amazon that should remedy this.

How are you liking the tube amp so far?

The tube amp is really good for the price. I do like the nos Russian tubes better than the stock chinese ones.

I started to get the sheet metal part of the preamp layed out. I also have it up and running. So far sounds pretty good. I need to get my wiring cleaned up. I will be making a solid maple case for it. I will hopefully get to powdercoating the case this week.

I like the subtle bend at the bottom. That’ll be very cool once you have it buttoned up!

Got the chassis out of the oven and started assembling last night. That is the bueaty of powder coat. I was all cured and ready to assemble in less than an hour. I should have it done this weekend.

Powder coating is an excellent option for home use, if you have the room. I had the Eastwood kit many years ago, by doing side work it paid for itself 10 fold.

Nice work!!

I also use the Eastwood gun, but have built a fairly large oven. Inside dimensions are 25”x25”x55”. I built it big enough to do motorcycle and atv frames.

Hell yeah, right on:sign_of_the_horns:t3:

I just found out via Google that MDF can be powder coated. Have you ever done that?

I have wanted to, but is far more difficult than metal. Curing specifically needs to be done with curing lights so as to not heat up the MDF too much. You also need to get the MDF to hold s charge to attract the powder which may need to be done with a corona gun.
