I’m not worried about the programming, it’s more all the different hardware and having all that clutter around my system. Plus if anything goes wrong, which I’ve learned it will eventually and needs debugging. I just don’t want to mess with all that anymore.
But thank you for offering. I also thought about just getting the Hypex plate amps and installing in each speaker to make it even simpler. I already have the ICEpower amps and wanted to build those into the speakers. The Danville Nexus is another alternative but those are pricey. The Helix seemed like a good alternative, not as expensive, still uses high quality AKM DACs and has a good interface that’s well supported.
I should mention I’ll be using a WiiM Ultra as preamp/streamer digital out into the Helix DSP. I wish the Helix had balanced outs but not the end of the world. I’m already in the WiiM ecosystem throughout my house and can’t say enough good things about their products. They just work well. I used to use Raspberry Pi/Hifiberry as streamers with Roon but got tired of having a computer run Roon and all the issues with it.
First I need to get the speaker built and then I’ll use the minidsp 4x10 for initial tests and filter development. Then I’ll order a Helix and retune the crossover.
The same thing generally. We might understand phase delay in degrees at a given frequency, but the MiniDSP software allows the user to program milliseconds of delay for a channel. I suppose they can be equally precise or imprecise .
