I think this is really an important part of the design process and I know a bunch of you practice it already. I would argue appearance in general - color, shape, dimensional ratios, etc. - all play a significant role in the listening experience.
A good-looking speaker sort of sets the stage for expectations too. Of course, this is subjective. Even if one spends significant time on appearance it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I think the blue and aluminum shown in the paper is pretty striking personally, I think that’s even a color scheme KEF has used on a commercial project. But I’m sure some would prefer something different.
Of course, some of us like simple birch ply too. Troels would probably be a semi-famous example of that!

Absolutely. Even when a speaker isn’t reproducing music, I want it to look good sitting there. It’s a visual expression as well as aurally to me.
