Encel Stereo in Melbourne sold some concrete spherical (well, sort of) speakers 40 years ago, but the enclosures were made a little lighter by putting expanded polystyrene balls in the mix. They didn’t sell very well, IIRC.

I think I’ve posted this before, if so, my apologies. A firm in Canberra still makes speakers in that shape.
