DIY amp identification?

Can anyone in here identify this amp I was told it was made as a DIY project back in the 90s or early 2000s.

I dont think its too old. Its a nice kit for sure. Can you send a pic of the IC?

Looks nice and clean.

I think that looks like a chipamp.com product.

Found it

Yep basically same as a dual 3886, looks to be running parallel mode with the output resistors, though sometimes they want to fight each other without a some active dc offset correction circuit. Works but can run hot.

Nice dual mono clean layout.

So whats the skinny on this? Power? Is it for sale?

Looks like its about 120watts per channel in that configuration. I would love to know how it sounds vs a class AB of similar size.

I’m seriously considering upgrading my test amp, the Dayton APA-150 just lacks the balls to do what I would like it to do.This one would have more output per channel, provided it is 4 ohm stable. In the Dayton’s defense, I have thrown some pretty shitty loads at it and it has never balked, not once.

I feel like I’ve seen that amp before. If I had a guess, it looks like a build Hong Nguyen did quite a while ago.

Edit:

Nope, was not Hong’s build. Google soundhobby to find his.
