FS: Rennsteig (Knipex) Crimp System ratcheting crimpers/dies

We recently moved and for better or worse the new house doesn’t have the working space or the storage capacity of the previous one. So I’ll be listing some things for sale here that I’m frankly still cataloging. (As a preview, this will include some in-wall speakers with a TAD/Pioneer coax, some speakers from Vue Audiotechnik with beryllium tweeters and compression drivers, Scan Disco 10” subwoofer drivers, 8” midbasses from Seas, B&C, Peerless XLS, and Eminence, 6 of those nice MCM 8” midwoofers, some Vifa and ScanSpeak tweeters, Icepower 125ASX2 modules, a Reckhorn DSP unit, and more. However, I’ll kick this off with some crimp tooling that’s suitable for DIY speaker building. (Soldering on driver terminals, is, IMO, not as good as using quick disconnects crimped to the wire with good tooling.)

I have 4 Rennsteig Crimp System frames that are unused. Note that Rennsteig is a part of Knipex, and these crimpers are also sold as Knipex Crimp System, as well as a number of other brands. (I also have a frame, not for sale, with black handles, satin chrome jaws, and Neutrik branding.) This German-made crimp tooling is superior to most crimp tooling, IMO, because the jaws move in parallel like a Knipex Pliers Wrench, rather than in an arc.

The following are available:

  • 2x empty crimp frames, model 624 000 3 (same as Knipex 97 43 200) - $50 each. For reference, currently $155 at Digikey.
  • 1x empty crimp frame with Rennsteig case, as as well as wrench and hex key. $70
  • 1 crimp frame loaded with 624 050 3 0 die, designed for quick disconnects sized 20 AWG - 10 AWG (i.e. speaker wire). $100.
  • 1 crimp frame loaded with 624 667 3 0 die, designed for D-sub (DB-25, etc.), and can be used (but admittedly isn’t the recommended die) for Neutrik HA-series crimp XLR plug quick disconnects. $120
  • Crimp die 624 060-3 3 0 for insulated ring terminals or splices, covering up to I think 10 AWG (6.0 mm^2). $40
  • Crimp die 624 020 3 0 for insulated ring terminals or splices, covering from interconnect wire sizes up to 14 AWG. $40
