I had a gift certificate to spend. The top three are wide and tall enough to make a pair of VersaBox baffles. The Leopardwood is not large enough for that, but maybe for an accent piece or smaller project.
Yep, I have the mentality to use one with these woods. It’s a good thing they are pretty close to width as they sit. I won’t have to cut much besides driver holes and minor L/W adjustments.
It’s also the reason I did NOT buy Wenge. A splinter can fester quickly with that stuff.
Wenge! Oh my. Couple of hours and, ouch. Tiny little micro sliver would fester so fast.
I managed to salvage a bit of Zebrano and Sapele from the shop. Don’t know why, but maybe something will come of it. Actually, the Sapele might become a dressing bench. Have a nice rough edged slab partially done and a few narrower boards for legs and such.
Oh, have a little bit of Wenge, too! Haha.
Have fun with it!.
Sapele back left, Gabon Ebony and Zebrano in front, 2 Cocobolo, the larger is almost square, very figured, mild but figure Birdseye Maple (amazing little stack picked up forever ago), short Cocobolo in front and Wenge far right.
The Ebony and Rosewood are the first pieces of exotic woods I purchased, more than 50 years ago. Used a little here and there for some tools and things. Might be time to make some more hand planes with it. It’s certainly well seasoned.
