Hi there, I'm Juan Macchiavelli

I’m new to the group, so a little background: I used to have my own amps and speakers shop back in Argentina, and right after I arrived in the States, I went to Parts Express and found out about the speaker design competition. I’ve been hooked ever since — it’s letting me channel my speaker freak/musician energy in a positive way.

I’m trying not to be shy, but my English is still a work in progress, so please bear with me. Back home I used to give lectures and be a pretty funny frontman in my band. Here I can barely ask for basic instructions… so frustrating

But I would love to learn from/about your projects and swap ideas with such talented builders . So I’m putting myself out there and joining the club.

Welcome Juan !

You should definitely try to come to one (or more) of the group’s get togethers (Argentine wines are more than welcome- ha). I’ve always found them enjoyable - a great group of guys and very interesting and unique speaker builds.

Thank you, Tajanes — I’d love to join those get-togethers (and with wine, it won’t matter how bad my English is!). Thanks to Wolf’s invitation, I went to inDIYana, and it was very fun

Welcome Juan! which city / area are you based in? We have a few get togethers in the midwest, most are very casual affairs.

Hi Ani! I live in Russia, Ohio, a small town about 50 minutes north of Parts Express

Welcome Juan - great bunch of folks here.

Good to see you in cyberspace, Juan! Glad you made the jump to join the group.

Ken is hosting an event in Grand Rapids on Sept 18/19 if you are on board and able.

Your wife can post her builds too ya know, and she is one of the few women that do build and understand our obsession with it.

Welcome!

I had no idea you were “so close” in Ohio. I’m in Hamilton, a little northwest of Cincinnati.

Glad to see you here!

I thought you have pretty good english, but I suppose what I’m hearing has alot of effort put into it. So I understand that can be exhausting to maintain.

For reference, I’m the guy who spoke briefly with you about the MAC-05. My father was next to me in the seating.

Welcome Amigo. Look at this little guy. He was on our front porch, scared to death. I guess he is our new family member now. But we need a name for him. Please help. I know you like cats.

Little “Tucker”.

Thank you, guys!

And you’re right, @Ani @KenRhodes @Wolf grand rapids is close. The issue is we have to take care of my nephews that weekend, but if that plan doesn’t work out, we’ll be there!

By then I should have a prototype of what I’m building for my sister’s living room. I’ll start posting something about it

@DrewsBrews Yes, I remember your great Peerless build. By the way, I never got the chance to ask whoever used that MAC driver how to get in touch with Brian from Jules Fidelity.

@ron-e Iowa feels a little far for me, but maybe for my wife it’s nothing. I don’t have that “driving 8 hours like it’s nothing” culture.

And congratulations @Eggguy — he’s going to help you build resilience when he’s jumping on your work in progress  and he looks like a tweeter to me!

Brad (username hifiside here and a few other places) runs Jule Fidelity. The MAC drivers come in 4, 5 and 6 inch sizes. Look at the sale on crossover components too!

David beat me to it… Brad is a great guy and his service is excellent. I buy parts from him whenever I can. I have used the MAC 4" (there is kit available on his site) and the 6" in a large stand mount MTM. The drivers are great.
