Finally getting around to completing a project I started back in 2019 when I bought the drivers for Dave’s design. Dave discussed this design back in 2005 on AudioCircle and provided me with his design documentation. Some 8" drivers that almost worked
I won’t go into all of it but basically this design uses a Meniscus 8” woofer that is very similar (the same) to one Bud Fried used in his 1980s Studio IV with a Hiquaphon tweeter. I had the gray cone version of this driver, same as Bud used, back in the 80s with a Vifa softdome. I lusted after the Studio IV back in 86 when I listened to them at Hawkeye Audio in Iowa City but couldn’t afford the $2k price tag.
