The surround on those Gait’s look like they’d be nasty midbass machines. And then Vance in the comments says 94hz F3 sealed and 80hz F3 ported. Like, what’s the point of the surround being that large?

smaller cone? Turns a 5.25" into 6.5" :laughing:

You’d figure they could put enough weight in a glass cone to reduce the Fs. But sensitivity takes a hit.. The tweeter looks to have taken that hit.

This is a quick sim of the MX5-22 in 10L with the SB Acoustics Racetrack PR (15g added mass) at 25W input. F3 around 40. Cone and PR Excursion still under control at this SPL (about 95-96 dB).

VAS = 4.9 L . . . Fs = 45 Hz . . . . Hmmm . . . .

Interesting tweeter. It also looks like they are adding a lot of wavecore drivers.

That is pretty cool. PE doesn’t have the data sheet linked yet, here it is on Peerless’ website. (EDIT: PE does have it in the Overview tab rather than the usual PDF file in Manuals and Resources.)

Seems like the new Purifi Tweeter is now available at Madisound:

Cinergy Audio also has a few new things. A 3.5in full range; which looks really similar to the Dayton Audio one. But the surround isn’t inverted. Also a different basket, 4ohm driver, and a much lower resonant frequency.

Also some new aluminum drivers, in 8in and 4in. The 8in almost looks like an Anarchy woofer replacement? Pretty high xmax; at 9.8mm. The 4in isn’t too high of sensitivity for a proper midrange. Both are interesting and quite reasonably priced though.

I have a pair of the Denovo full rangers in my grubby little mitts. I’ll whip something up this spring.

K-shaped economy. Purifi diamond-clad beryllium tweeter with platinum faceplate $15,000. Dayton ND25FA $10.

Ooh, the sig PRs are listed with prices. Comes with mass disks, more xmech than the RS series and less $. Getting closer to a viable option for the GRS HE subs IMO.

Very cool. I know the rule of thumb for PR’s is roughly 2x the area of the active driver, but given the throw of these, would a single of these PR work with a single RSS210 or the above mentioned GRS8 HE?

I popped the sig 8” PR with GRS8 HE into WinISD.

.75cf with 4 mass disks and 100Watt. 0db line is ~101db/1m.

I saw on Facebook that Dayton has a new Epique 5” dedicated midrange, looks pretty impressive. Not on the website yet.

Thanks! Details below:

Cool looking driver. Seems like they could have dealt with the 800Hz thing.

Yup.
