Paint via sprayers

Have a decent size compressor, cheapo HVLP gun and new social touted LVLP gun. Love using primer, primer filler for base coat on MDF as much easier to fill end seems and other imperfections.
Rattle canning towers or speakers > 1 cuft painful even though those newer multi nozzle rustoleums work pretty well, which was my biggest complaint with all other rustoleums and would lean toward Krylon or stuff find in auto stores like castor of vht.

What’s most practical paint options for LVLP? Auto paint expensive. Should I just go to sherwin williams and get oil paint mixed to preferred color? Then thin it down a little. What would be preferred thinner? acetone, thinner or reducer.

Made horrible mistake once thinning clear laquer with thinner that created white spots like bird shit attack. Also other times where clear laquer interacts with layer below crackling. Also can never get matte laquer to stay flat/matte when sprayed through gun.

Water based is getting so good. I am not a chemist, but I know that chemistry is happening everywhere all the time. I have a buddy who sprays only Minwax oil based poly eurethane because it works well and he is set in his ways and it has not yet been outlawed in indiana.
