Perpetual editing by OP of first post in thread

This is more of a question, since I have not tested the functionality:

In this forum, can the user that makes the first post in a thread edit that initial post in perpetuity? I find that to be a very useful feature that is possible at e.g. DIYaudio but NOT at audiosciencereview.

For example, let’s assume I want to create a thread to gather some info or discuss a topic. The thread could become pages long. It is very useful for the reader when the initial post is edited to reflect the latest information, or to link to important posts that might be found only pages later in thread.

When this is not possible, and a new reader stumbles upon a mature thread, they face the task of having to read through many, many posts from start to finish to see where the thread goes, or what the conclusions are/were. It’s very annoying and off-putting.

So, if it is possible to make the first post editable forever, but only by the original poster, that would be a nice feature to have here. If this is already possible, please confirm.

Thanks!

It’s a configurable setting, right now edits are possible infinitely on posts by their author. Since the forum logs every edit, I think that is ok because we can see any bad behavior in the edit history, if that ever is a thing.
