Possible Ohio 3-way Entry Components?

The HiVi DM-7600 3” dome mid looks like an interesting driver and I have been wanting to try it out, but it only seems to be for sale in Asia.

Once I found it, I was looking at other drivers this vendor had for sale and put together a cart that could possibly make a nice 3-way.

Before shipping, it works out to be $297.87USD, do you think this would qualify for the Ohio under $300.00 category?

Maybe the parts are knock off crap, factory thirds, I don’t know, but I was thinking of trying them, just to play around with the 3” dome.

It seems the categories were pretty much going on the honor system largely. I got the idea there were a few ideological camps.. One to try and stretch the dollars as much as possible with sales and such. The other wanted for a more level playing field of “go by current non sale prices”. Do with that what you will, but the future of the SDC event is up in the air anyway. So I’d say first and foremost: build something for you.

Though that does look like a pretty nice combo anyway.

I’m going to order the drivers and build it anyway, just because I want to try the 3” DM-7600 dome, and if it turns out nice, I might bring it to Ohio or at least Dayton. :slight_smile:

I have a pair of those mids, waiting on enclosures to be finished. If they have the same motor as the 7500 variant, coupled with the slight waveguide loading they should be excellent.

Do I have definitive proof, like a copy of a press release, no.

But Josh (Director of Product Development at PE) is telling the staff to let everyone know it is a go.

I expect an official announcement will be coming out shortly.

SDC actually seems to generate some buzz on youtube and social media. I imagine it isn’t cheap, but probably some of their most effective marketing outlay. Them keeping it I feel is a good sign, that the new owners want real growth instead of sucking the company dry.

I went ahead and placed the order with Taobao, I will let you know in two months when the boat shows up how things look!
