Said he popped a cap by having a resistor zip tied tight against it. I used hot glue to make some stand-offs so the air could circulate under the resistor and the heat wasn’t transferred directly into the cap

Thanks, some resistors do get really hot! Usually I keep things apart, but will keep in mind if space is limited. Standoffs is a good idea if I need to stack.

Don’t think I’d use hot glue to create stand offs for a resistor.

The zip ties aren’t actually applying any real downward pressure. If by chance the glue softened or melted the leads would maintain the spacing. The zip tie would just keep it from wiggling.
I made my own with copper alligator clips from Digikey.
