Researching for my next build. 8’’ 2-way. I’ll be using a large tweeter for this one. SB29SDAC-C000-4 or Wavecor TW030WA07 30mm?
I doubt you’d go wrong wither way.
The SB has a pretty big following. I have liked it every time I have heard it.
While I’m more familiar with the RDAC version, they have the same basic motor structure. Distortion rises pretty badly the lower you get. These are better when used above 2k, and likely need Fs comp. I’m not certain an 8” 2way is the best fit.
Wavecor os IMO, a better bet.
I’ll need to cross at around 1.7k without issues.
That’s what I’m saying, the Wavecor would be my bet.
Have you calculated where your chosen 8 inch driver begins to beam? The designs I have done with 8 inch drivers required a crossover an octave lower. With your chosen tweeters, on a deep enough horn you will have more than enough power handling and efficiency to crossover at the best point.
