Since this thread seems to be lost in space, I think it may be time for a speaker rocket crash landing:
Oh I miss the Meniscus get together
Me too.
Same here. Didnāt make as many as I would have liked but it was always a good time!
Donāt want to be a Debbie downer, but is this likely the last SDC? Iāve always planned to attend one, especially when it was still MWAF, but never made it for various reasons. I was prepared to go this year, but with no jam room the appeal vs. the long trip tailed off. Long live our other get together events!
Iād imagine it probably depends how well this one goes.
This is the first time doing it this way. It sounds like they are already doing a decent amount of preperation. Iād bet the coordinator of the event gets a $ amount they can spend, and do their best to spend it wisely to atleast get the basics covered first. Maybe if it all goes well, and they get enough publicity from it, they might invest a little more for next year.
My suggestion, if everyone wants it to keep going: Take some pics/video during the event and post it on social media so they see some buzz about it. That way the marketing folks have something to show their new overlords that it is worth the time and money.
Sounds like the SDC is full up, all spots are taken (Jill), so I hope good things come of this year and it carries on.
Any thoughts about the music selections?
I wonder if Mr. Jones will ask for the same selections to be used in all categories like happened 2 (?) years ago.
I believe that will not happen again. There were lots of unhappy people that year.
And it doesnāt really make sense. They arenāt comparing speakers across categories so thereās no reason they need to play the same tracks for all the categories. Having the different music selection keeps the day from being overly monotonous
Definitely agreed.
It made sense to me. It is easier to notice differences on a track you are extremely familiar with. Canāt get much more familiar than something you have already heard a ton of times in the same day. It just kinda sucked to sit through.
They are called āreference tracksā for a reason . . .
For those entering into this years Ohio SDC, have you listened to the tracks for your category?
What do you think of the selections?
I listened to the selections for the >$300 <2000"^3 category I am entering in and found them to be a tad blah.
Comments?
very nice!
I havenāt listened yet, but I do like the variety. Sometimes the whole list is pretty cliche.

I did, I really dig STP, so thats nice. The other two, ehh, sure⦠whatever.
I thought the same thing, Dave.
Anemic or low octane would be the best way I could describe the >$300 <2000"^3 selections.
Would prefer the >$300 >2000"^3 choices by a big margin.
There is a difference between small and incapable.
Just got an email from Jill about Javad Shadzi filling in for Vance Dickason. Wonder what Vance has going on?
