Just relaxing on the kit instead of trying to kill it . . . and attempting to get a fairly balanced mix . . .

I bought a 10 foot headphone cable extender so I could move around after recording to mix while using the same listening device(VSX Headphones-ONLY) and not switch listening devices (to keep my ears attuned to ONE specific Listening Standard/Ear-sensitivity-curve).
This one is headphone worthy - IMO.
I put a lot of un-distracted effort into replaying and remixing this one.
Try to get through the entire thing at least once.

Can you point out the time-slice that the cymbal which offends is present?
I use two rides tuned for key changes/creating depth/interest and need to know which one it is.
My best combined drumming /focused mixing efforts gained to date; culminated in this mix today:
Eddie was originally a drummer and taught his son [Wolfgang] to play them before any other instrument - because without an identity/ tribal-beat/groove - music is just noise.
I finally got inside Eddie’s head with this drum take. [I’m using timing elements of both Keyboard tracks [as well as David’s vocal inflections] in this drum work].
Eddie was a musical/rhythmic genius and a better drummer than he will ever get credit for . . . however, being of slight build he hadn’t the physical stamina to carry the kit over the course of a concert - nor do I - but I play because of my love for the “art” of percussion.
Alex [original drummer] is a Machine!

PS: Thanks to those of you who have offered constructive/positive feedback/guidance - It inspired me to push through the fog/pain of LEARNING to arrive at this feat.

With all I have learned about mixing to date I offer this work on the drums and over-all mix:
See how much more detail you can glean from this mix using reference headphones and then compare to your speakers, please.
I have learned that EQ’ing each drum and cymbal sound to remove competing frequency cancellations makes the entire mix louder and more alive.
Takes a lot of focused effort to mix but worth it, IMO.

Got one appropriate complaint after the 1st ^ take/Mix - hope I corrected it with this replacement take/mix:

I’ll never go back to an acoustic kit for recording - maybe for jamming but not for recording.
Went back and remixed this one using my new favorite emulated reference system which is called “Audiophile”.
(I have no idea what the those speakers response curve is supposed to look like in that room but suspect a dry clean/well treated room with a flat response is where it is set).
Spent a lot of time remixing this one since I finally understood the rhythm(s) and was able to program my body/mind to pull it off acceptably well [IMO]:
OK, you should be able to [subtly] discern my left foot on the hi-hats bouncing to keep in time with the left channel keyboards [rushing the tempo] and my right hand on the cymbals/toms & right foot on the kick drum keeping up with the right channel keyboards/Bass guitar [where the groove lives].
This required me to split the focus of each hemisphere of my brain to individually control it’s opposite side of my body to to accomplish - something that I have been practicing since I was able to settle my mind(s) after retiring from working/watching the NEWS/distracted by pointless drama. {I was able to free my mind}.
If I do this for too long the junction between the left and right hemispheres gets hot (center-top of the head).
Probably a biological bandwidth limitation that I have not been able to yet overcome/become acclimated too.
It’s the same drumming effort I posted last time but I have replaced and/or re-tuned the toms and cymbals - then re-leveled them all to fit the song.
Hope you enjoy - this should conclude this tune’s effort on my part.
I think all this time-off from music has helped my hearing - some of my recent mixes sound too bright/trebly to me now.

Didn’t, even feel like playing til I heard this light-mood groove and simple lyrics, so . . .
I am a bit pleased with the mix/sound - it all came together after just directing my full focus at the subject and I enjoyed the distraction.
