So wife let me spend some money with Cinergy yesterday - to the tune of four 8” Motus and four 5” Motus. I also bought another pair of Chinese beryllium tweeters, so will be building a close to end game MTMWW using these drivers.
Based on advertised specs I should reasonably expect mid-30s extension in 2.5 cubes.
Other builds are currently going to be back-burnered as I start the serious planning on this one. I sill want to finish my W/TM 3-way and possibly do the GRS based 4” 2-way as well but this one will take priority come spring/summer.
I like this with the Motus. Back when Motus was unobtainium, I had secured a pair of the 6.5”. Had allocated a Rival 9” to go on the bottom end. Would 2 8” do well with it? Do i need to add 8 more woofers to my stack? Would this ever get built?
I am thinking of doing this modular - with the MTM and woofers in separate enclosures. This will help facilitate moving them. Otherwise I imagine these would end up well over 100# per side.
This is all four of the 5”. I did not measure Vas. Little disappointed in consistency, to be honest. I am running them as dedicated mids so no worries on the bottom end, but for all intents and purposes I have two matched pair that are a little different from each other. Pretty much within 10% which I have been told is all I can expect.
