Hope you’re keeping cool Steve! Can you even get anyone to come out and even look at your unit? Our furnace went out when we had a cold snap last year. I got lucky and found a Lennox dealer from a nearby small town that was able to get to us in just a few hours.

I hadn’t googled those Motus woofers before today. They sure look like they mean business and I know you’ll do them justice!

The best I could do on a holiday weekend was get a tech out here who confirmed my diagnosis of the unit but after replacing the capacitor for the compressor the control board smoked and chattered the compressor contactor like it was trying ignite the gas heating system. [bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzk!]

So, we have a compressor which will not start and consistently lock-rotors at 100 amps but megs-out and resistance check indicate good motor. I suspect the shaft/bearings overheated leaving it unable start and the only way to know is to buy a control board and capacitor to find out on a 22 YO packaged R22 system.

(we even tried a hard-start-kit but it didn’t help).

I’m looking into a 3.5 ton packaged R32 Heat Pump replacement at this point. ($$$ !!??)

Anyhoo . . . No central AC for me for about two weeks if I am lucky.

Sorry for the thread hijack, JR!

This is actually a blessing to have all this stressful crap happening as it has animated my degenerating flesh into motion like it was when I was working/dealing with people/moving around a lot.

Retirement takes more effort than you know [yet] - Have a plan for it, guys!

Build lots of speakers too . . . Like these MTM’s of JR’s.

Glue up done as of this morning. Tomorrow (maybe) after work I will get the machining done, and do some bodywork on them. See how stifling my garage is when I get home.

Current conditions in my garage. No sawdust today. Supposed to be ten degrees cooler next two days.

I know it says Saturday, we are lazy when it comes to programming.

It’s also something to aspire to. Today IS the weekend…

I tried doing more today, but just stood there sweating in my garage and declined further action. I get off early tomorrow, maybe I’ll get something done then.

I’ve been there. There are also times that I am motivated to continue despite the heat, but the sweat is so significant I don’t want it ruining whatever I’m working on.

Yep, dripping several times a minute is hard to deal with. I found that wearing a bandanna type thing soaks up the sweat and allows it to evaporate quicker than it would drip… except for the absolute hottest days near 100deg. Then it gets overwhelmed.

There, machining done and ready for bodywork. 1" roundovers.

Is that tweeter a knock-off of the SEAS DXT?

Yes. With, I hope, a better motor.

Bodywork about half done. Need to sand this stuff off, apply a glazing coat and then sand that. Then it is time for duratex!

First coat.

Was gonna three coat it, but decided two is enough. Hope to get one assembled and ready for measurements when I get home from work today.
