Anyone planning on electronics projects this winter? I’ve got this aliexpress tube amp kit I’m finally wanting to get together. Probably not going to be anything to write home about SQ wise, more something to get me more hands-on familiar with tube circuits. This guy did measure enough voltage for 3.5watts/channel on the kit, which I found surprising.

Yes, I finally have all the parts necessary to restore the vintage 1940’s 807 push-pull Williamson amp that was given to my by @KenRhodes several years ago. I plan to finish this project before spring.

That’s a blast from the past!

Got me interested in ib. Put a quad of pe 15”ib in the shed and used a radio shack spl meter+correction sheet, burnt a cd with ~15sec test tones from 15hz-250hz, notebook paper to write all the measurements down, calculator to do all the corrections, behringer feedback destroyer for eq..

High wind advisory here today, 30-40 sustained and gusts to 60. My Sorento is like a sail in this shit, my commute is going to suuuuck.

I finished the second oak cold air return floor grate and it fits.

That looks great but also looks like a ton of work! Are you going to try and match them color and distress wise to the existing flooring?

It was a bit of work. This is my wife’s hobby house. The floors will get refinished and the grate will get stained to match.

The house was built in 1919 and has lots of character. It was neglected for years and then sat empty for 2 years. It was mouse heaven. When the roofers replaced the roof they needed to replace the sheeting and discovered a mouse nest between two joist that filled it from bottom to top.

Love those old houses , all that old woodwork inside!

Ron , do you think it could be a …… SearsHouses.com ?

I don’t think so. While cleaning up the yard my wife found a plaque with the name of the architect on it.

Putting the finish on a walnut plywood bathymetry map.

That doesn’t look like normal walnut veneer ply, but rather stacks of thin walnut. Did you stack them or something like this available?

Looks great. Had to look up “bathymetry map”, looked like a topo map, but shows depth instead. Which lake is it?

Yep, 3mm walnut veneered plywood laser cut in 5ft depth increments. Lake Johanna is just over 40ft deep, so this is ten layers. I clamped down two 90 squares so the layers could be constrained as they were stacked. I applied glue to the back of each layer and stacked them applying weight each time a layer was added. https://files.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/data/lakemaps/d0177011.pdf

Thanks, waiting for the finish to make it pop! Where do you get the ply from?

This was from xTool. (18) 12” x 12” sheets which are actually 30cm x 30cm.

Hey, I grew up in one of those. I remember that when I was in high school one of the bathrooms was being remodeled and something within the walls had a Sears Roebuck part number on it. The house was delivered by train in 1908. My brother currently lives in it.
