Yes, it’s the left hand and I’m right handed. It’s pretty sore without the meds so I’m glad I have them. I took the original dressing off tonight and the gash looks to be a little over an inch long. It doesn’t look the greatest but the doc that stitched me up thought it wouldn’t look too bad in a year.

Thanks for sharing and heal well. A good rule of thumb, pun intended, that I heard years ago was anything narrower than three inches or a long board that requires more pushing force, use a push stick. Try to keep more than one on top of your fence. In the past I would borrow it, forget to put it back and it wasn’t there when I needed it to finish a cut.

My Son turned 14 just before Christmas. Difficult time to have a birthday party so we chose to have it tonight. My wife is so much more artistic than me… look at the birthday cake she made for him (he loves NASCAR)

Great advice, having the push sticks right there- up front reminder. Also, a great reason for myself , not being much of an experienced saw-dust maker, to have a SawStop. My grandfather in his older age lost a couple of digits, and the SawStop probably pays for itself in one missed dr’s visit.

My wife wanted to buy me a new car for Christmas and yesterday we took possession of a Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV. It’s a used 2025 with 6,000 miles. For you gear heads, it’s the dual motor AWD version with 320hp and is supposed to do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. The tech and comfort are amazing and it’s really nice to have instant heat (including heated steering wheel) in the Iowa weather. The only negative so far is the Bose sound system.

I had a check up with the hand surgeon yesterday and my thumb is healing nicely with no damage to the bone, tendons or major nerves.

Friends of ours just bought the hatch version of that and are astonished at the quality, acceleration and comfort. They had a bit of fun playing synthetic engine sounds through the stereo.

That brings their car count to four (!): Golf GTi, Citroen 2CV and a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow which they inherited. It had brake failure about a week after they got it, luckily they were driving uphill at the time.

Good news about the thumb.

What turns you off about it?

Glad to hear you are healing up nicely.

And that car looks like fun too!!

It sounded pretty bad when I checked it out when we first drove the car with boomy bass and subdued vocals. I was trying to learn the controls today and found that the prior owner had the bass set at +7, the mids set at 0 and the treble set at +4. I set them flat and it’s much improved. The bass still sounds off like there’s a peak in the bottom end and it’s slightly distorted.

That would sound weird, good that you found the cause.

Our Mazda CX-30 has a Bose system which sounds very good: not great, but way better than any Bose home system I’ve heard. Woofers are mounted under the dash, not in the doors, which must aid the sound.

For some reason, Mazda puts the ‘sub woofer’ in a plastic enclosure which bolts inside the space saver spare, so one too many degrees of the wrench to unbolt the wheel will destroy the enclosure, brilliant. Our MX-5 (Miata) has a Bose system which sounds average, probably down to the cheap Mylar tweeters; of course, its stereo has to compete with wind noise, engine noise, road noise and noise noise so maybe it doesn’t need to be much good.

Their automotive division is usually pretty decent. It’s a total separate entity.
My wife’s Infiniti has it and it’s very acceptable, has that sub enclosure in the spare deal too.

Factory systems have come a long ways in the last couple decades. The Harman system in my Sorento doesn’t do bad at all, there is a small subwoofer in the back, midbass in the front doors, tweeters in the A pillars and a center channel on the dash. It works.

Absolutely. You can’t expect audio like we do or what can be done with aftermarket stuff, but in general, light-years ahead of the ol 4x6’s , 6x9’s , and the like.

The factory stereo in my 1997 Ford Ranger absolutely Rocks! NOT! I’m thinking 6x8’s in the doors just below the knees only. Luckily I only have a 10 minute commute to work.

Craigs is that factory size in the doors ?

Not really sure Nick. Peaking thought the door panel slits that is what they look like. They are definitely oval not round.

Might be 5x7, Ford used those quite a bit.

Copy , was going to offer up some Pioneer TS-D1602R ( round speakers ) , I think JR’s right about the size.

The JBL 5x7 component speakers are a great upgrade and bolt right in. You’d have to HP and a sub. Back in the day they were a dime a dozen at a junkyard. Mid/late 90’s Explorer/Expedition and such.
