USB can handle higher rate signel than COAX but there are some complications to implementing it correctly. Most Modern DAC’s will do this extremly well but older units might suffer from noise that can be present on the USB. A lot of this will depend on your source as well. If you arent streaming the highest resolution then USB will be of no advantage.

I have to use optical for my Anthem, because the coax has an upper treble rolloff.

And thank you again Dan for the outlaw amps.

cheaper meaning the head end , not the amps .

Ben if that is the case it has an issue that should be fixed.

It’s fine because I don’t use the coax.

No HDMI, goes right to TV from BD player.

Sound from digi source or TV are optical, so no biggy. Everything else is single ended analog.

The software shows a histogram. In fact, much of the processing involves amplifying the signal without blowing out the highlights. The tutorials often mention that when photographing nebulae there are only true blacks in the dense dust clouds. So it’s always a battle to gain brightness and contrast without burying detail.

Daytona 500 Baby! Starts in 2.5 hours!

We are finally moving forward with building our basement bathroom, going to pick out vanity and fixtures today.

Those projects are fun (except mudding/sanding drywall) and the end results are always worth it! I use our basement bathroom exclusively. That leaves the upstair’s bathrooms for the rest of the family.

I’ll be doing minimal work on this, just don’t have time.

Has anyone ever encountered or printed their own cosmetic trim rings that would fit the Dayton DC160 woofers?

This is not, repeat not, a political comment, but a practical one: how feasible is an Indy car race in DC?

While there have been some great modern F1 and Indycar street circuits such as Long Beach (spectacular), Monaco and maybe Melbourne, many more have , IMHO, been awful: Las Vegas (in a car park!), Adelaide and Brisbane to name a few. Actually, Melbourne is pretty dull too.

Flat, boring and useless for anyone not watching on TV, the 80s Vegas track was particularly silly: straights connected by hairpin bends, IIRC the drivers hated it.

my 2cents

New(er) sites i.e. Vegas and Miami have been about creating Spectacles, and from that point they have been successful additions (what, you didn’t like the yachts ‘parked’ in the ‘water corners’ at Miami?). I think the purpose build track in Texas is interesting as level changes were built, but not the historic city courses of F1. Monaco is the classic, but it’s mostly all about qualifying. Not sure about DC, but Chicago had a pretty good looking track set up for NASCAR - won by WeatherTech sponsored car (Bolingbrook, IL).

This year will be interesting, with new Caddy Team and Audi joining in. So far the top drivers have not been smitten with the new cars.

Monaco is indeed all about qualifying, but drivers have to keep their cars on the track: I remember Sir Jack Brabham’s ‘lose’ on the last corner in 1970 where he handed victory to Jochen Rindt, came second, and lost a good chance for his fourth world title. I haven’t seen any races at the Miami track, so can’t comment. If the new rules Indycars are anything like the 2026 F1 cars, drivers will hate them.

Taken last night. Clear night till about midnight and was not too cold. This is the Rosette nebula. Could only get about an hours data. 350 frames, 10 seconds each. Taken by dwarf3. Fist one the stacked image by the dwarf3, second one is an auto processed image by dwarf3.

I presume this is from within the Twin Cities? Any filter used? That’s really nice for only an hour.

yes, Plymouth MN, from my balcony which faces east / SE. The dwarf 3 is also a smart scope, though much cheaper and entry level. It has 2 filters and 3 modes - visual (no filter), atro (some type of light pollution filter) and Duo (dual band - though i suspect the bands are not very tight).

This was using the Duo filter. the app also has an editing feature, the second image is using its auto mode.

The dwarf3 aslo supports EQ mode which lets you go upto 30 and 60 seconds, but then i have to figet with polar alignment on a tripos ball head. so 10s it is, can go upto 15 in alt az.

It started snowing at a rate of 2 inches an hour around 6 tonight. It looks like we have about 6 inches in just under 3 hours so far. It could snow into the early morning.
