Can I ask the native resolution and dimensions of these awesome astronomy shots? I’m visualizing incorporating something along these lines into some accents on an unfinished speaker cabinet.
The resolution isn’t great. These are tiny optics with tiny cameras with very small pixels, at least mine is. And due to field rotation, the longer the duration the heavier the crop.
But this is the dimension
I had that idea years ago, thought about using images of Io (one of Jupiter’s moons) to wrap a baffle.
I think you should definitely try something like that!
Check out https://app.astrobin.com/ and search for a target of interest. Most (maybe all?) images have detail on software and hardware used, etc.
Around the neighborhood this morning:
• Johnston: 8.7
• Ankeny: 8.5
• Huxley: 8.0
• Urbandale: 7.3
• Pleasant Hill: 7.0
…and it’s WET.
Just a dusting up here so far, I do not expect much more than that. It was blowing pretty good on my drive in this morning, though. Couple whiteout spots. Just a reminder it doesn’t take much snow to create shitty driving conditions.
We ended up with 9 inches. Because of recent warm weather including a couple of days of near 70 degree days some of it melted where there was concrete.
Nice surprise today. Bought a house and there was a poorly painted gloss black mantle on it. Took it down and a few hours later and this is what was under it. Solid piece 6 feet long and 3 inches thick.
This came up on my YouTube surfing; a song from the Tedeschi Trucks Band ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’ show:
Excellent, like all their work, really; such a contrast to the mass market drivel which seems to dominate ‘the market. Would love to get this on CD
Geoff
sacrilege by whoever did that
You can pick your poison over on Bandcamp: Tedeschi Trucks Band and Leon Russell Present: Mad Dogs & Englishmen Revisited Live at LOCKN' | Tedeschi Trucks Band
These guys are in rotation on the Sirius station “Outlaw Country”.
Thanks for posting this! I just listened to 4 songs from that gig. They are all such great musicians, all having a good time, and never stepping on each other or over-playing the groove.
Worked on the Jeep today. Replaced the steering drag link ends, which solved more of the dead spot issue. Replaced front shocks and swaybar links too. That got rid of the rest of the front end rattling. Now it drives more like I’d expect a 22yr old Jeep.. Like a big bowl of jello. More comfy than the truck though. And can’t beat the price (free). I’ll probably keep updating the suspension as I find cheap parts.
I’m sore now.. Cars are pain.
Until I popped the hood on this.. I didn’t realize the 4.0 doesn’t even have a crossflow head. Practically burns coal.
Good to hear , yeah those 4.0 are crude but damn are they reliable!
The 4.0 is a buick or olds leftover that was sold to AMC before Chrysler bought them.
The original design is probably from the 50’s or 60’s.
Its one of the longest production engines ever.
It has a tow hitch..
One of those creepy connections to history: When that model of Grand Cherokee came out folks were dieing in fires from rear end collisions… They mounted the fuel tank behind the rear axle. Chrysler’s solution? Install tow hitches on all of them to act as armor for the fuel tank.
I respect you guys that can do this stuff. My wife is annoyed with me that I haven’t made the appointment with the dealer for her oil change that is overdue.
