Woof! That was rough, but pretty good!
Looks like Tang Band but I doubt PE would use them as a model for their own product line marketing.
RS180 in Carbon Fiber? . . .
My old friend Thad (in the Harley shirt) was in town this past weekend and I was able to send the speakers back with him. Here’s the build thread if you haven’t seen it - Speakers for an old friend — MAC/DIY
It was so great to see him and I’m sure we’ll get together again soon. He wants to put together a vintage system, so that’s right up my alley! He’s sure been through the wringer with multiple types of cancer, brain tumors, seizures & multiple surgeries. He’s doing remarkably well for guy who was given less than a year to live back in 2021. He’s always had a better beard, but I’ve always been taller!
That’s my guess, likely a sample that never went anywhere. Or, something coming down the pipeline and they are just teasing us.
Surprised no one else has mentioned
Just looks like another Lyeco sample. I have a set of Honeycomb samples that I still intend to use.
My wife bought a 1919 house to fix up and I get all the hard projects. The cold air returns are oak and are pretty rough. This is a small one and I have another one that’s at least twice as big to do.
Half-lap joints?
Looks good.
Kind of funny, sold a router to a guy last weekend who was doing a similar project, heat registers. His old cheap router bit the dust.
The long bars are 1 1/4 x 3/8. The cross bars are 3/8 by 3/8 and fit in dado cuts. That’s how the original was built.
Ahh, took a closer look. Cool.
Looking at the originals they looked like they were all full height pieces until I examined them closely. I too assumed they were half lap joints until I went to build a replica.
Those are nice woodworking projects, nice work🤘🏼
When I have made grates like that in the past I start with a big chunk of 8/4 and do all my router work then I rip it into strips. This makes the job pretty easy and it also makes it so the peices are all grain matched. Pretty fun to do once you get in a groove(pun).
Ron, are you able to post a couple of close-up pictures of the joints? I am not understanding what type of joints you put in.
ok, the top piece goes in halfway into the dado. Thanks for hte explanation.
Insomnia sucks, so here I lay thinking about the next few designs I do
