The amount of truth in that statement is tragic.
I first thought this jeep was a company display car, but no. An individual over a few years did all the work- impressive.
Hobbies . . . each to his own interest, skills & pocket-books, right?
A Vette engine in a Jeep? Kinda heretical ainât it?
Then again, the Hemi or V10 may not have fit in thereâŚ
âLS swap itâ knows no boundary.
Most true statement ever.
Cheap, easy, realiable, and plety of power.
Hemi would have kept it in the family- but he went with chevy - it fit somehow.
They fit , buddy has the 392 hemi in his Jeep Rubicon.
Post pics !
Iâm a fan of the factory Cherokee /or Grand V8 Hemi - with big dual exhaust out the back / middle.
One of the strangest engine swaps Iâve seen was a Peugeot 504, when a bloke replaced the standard 2.0 litre four with a 4.4 litre aluminium V8 from a âLeyland P76â. The V8 was apparently lighter than the four, but the gearbox and diff did not match well with the new engine and I saw it in our car service centre having some more robust parts fitted.
The Leyland V8 was a development of the Buick/Rover 3.5 litre V8, a great engine; however, the the P76 was not great. A large, unreliable, badly built POS which sent Leyland Australia broke in 18 months.
Crystal clear darkness is BACK! Four hours of work, no processing, straight out of the box. This will be a multi-night project going for Hubble grade awesomeness. M31 (Andromeda Galaxy).
Thatâs pretty bitchinâ![]()
Another straight out of scope .jpeg. When you get this much blue gas from the 7 Sisters you just know the software magic should make it spectacular.
Thatâs amazing. What setup are you using and how much integration time?
Itâs from a Vaonis Vespera II set up right on my deck in Ankeny. Iâm using no filters. The Andromeda image above I was satisfied after about 15 hours of stacked exposures. The images are stacked in scope. The Pleiades went on for a bit over 12 hours. Conditions were near perfect for three nights running.
For the Vaonis I just pull the scope on tripod out of my office and place it on my deck and plug it in via USB-C. I connect over wifi to my iPad and work out my plan in the app. No monkeying around laying in the wet grass trying to do polar alignment. No squinting to find Polaris through a tiny finder scope. Program and hit Go. Since Iâve chosen targets beforehand the process takes about 5 minutes from set-up to capture, if it is dark out.
At the end of a project I get the stretched jpeg shot and a much larger .TIFF file. The .TIFF doesnât usually look like much to begin with, but has all the detail to make the magic happen. Iâll need to reacquaint myself with the software and get busy. Right now I use Siril, Affinity and GraXpert for the bulk of the work.
Thanks, sounds like an quick and easy plan. I might get the dwarf draco, if actual reviews hold up the hype. But these are pushing the boundaryâs of smart scope towards full sized rigs.
I had a great time taking my daughter to her first concert/show. Weezer played the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee last night.
The first opening band, the Silversun Pickups were a bit different. A wall of sound type band. I guess it didnât help that I didnât know a single song of theirs. The lead singer played a Gibson ES-335 hollow body, there was a keyboard player (couldnât discern any of his notes playing), and a super tall gal playing a very pumping bass guitar that was pretty much the lead instrument. I didnât hate them but I wasnât particularly sad when their set was over.
The second opening band was great! The Shins. Again, I didnât know a single song of theirs but every song sounded uniquely different and I could hear every instrument/musician contributing, and they were all super talented musicians and singers. I am going to look into them and see if I like how their recorded music sounds. They were a great live band.
The headliner, Weezer, was a fairly popular band back in the 90âs right after I graduated from college. Driving to the show I surmised that I maybe knew 3 or 4 of their songs (the ones that were popular and over played on the radio stations in the 90âs). Wow was I wrong. I knew 10 of the 20+ songs they played. The sound mix was fantastic! Especially considering how huge the Fiserv Forum is (where the Milwaukee Bucks play basketball). They put on an incredible show. It wasnât just smoke, lights, and pyrotechnics⌠they totally interacted with the 18,000 people in the crowd. I had a great time! And my daughter, who knew every word to every song, and sang every word and danced the entire time was just blown away. Worth every dollar paid.
Wow - that sure would have been a good one to see! All of those are great bands.
