Remember 7 of 9 from the 90’s “Star Trek Voyager” episodes?

Jeri Ryan ^

After careful consideration I think I found her father unit . . .

Great conditions for a meteor shower Tuesday night. Six hours of capture time got me 1/2 of a screaming fireball. (lower left)

This article is about all the heritage audio brands that are now Chinese.

https://www.headphonesty.com/2026/04/china-builds-worlds-audio-equipment-heritage-brands/

And that doesn’t include the brands owned by Korean Samsung…Polk, Denon, Marantz, Bowers & Wilkin, JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG, Mark Levinson, Arcam, and Revel.

The Jeep saga continues. Did some more work on it today.

Engine: First time for me to change the oil. Figured, with the milage, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start it on a 15w40 diet (Rotella T5)

Transmission: Got some CEL codes a few days ago, and trans went into limp. It needed a sensor and solenoid replaced inside. I was already getting parts to do a filter and fluid change. So I did it all while the pan was off. I also heard the OD accumulator spring commonly fails so I replaced it too. Sure enough it came out in 3 pieces. Got a new pan with a drain bolt so I can slowly replace all the fluid via a few drains and refills.

Rear Differential: Since there is an axle seal leak I knew the diff oil level would be dropping. Lifted the rear end enough for the diff to clear the gas tank and I could squirt in more oil. It was over 1qt low.. Not good since it only has ~1.8qt capacity :grimacing:. I need to get that axle seal fixed.

We had an 84’ cj7 hardtop. Constantly worked on the thing. Was never so glad to get rid of a vehicle.

I know a lot of people talk of Rotella oils in gasoline engines. I dove down that rabbit hole, and although it is oil and oil is better than no oil, Rotella being a diesel oil, isn’t the best choice.

I watch this guy’s YouTube channel a bunch because he really gets into the ins and outs of oils.

I spend a lot of time wrenching on my 72 for less results. Just saying.

Also, Sunday speak chat!

So after much reading, I am now convinced my stock torque converter is to blame for my truck dropping 500+ RPM when I pull it out of park and into gear. So that is a big job, little outside of what I am tooled up for here at home so will likely have to order the TC and limp the truck to my mechanics house. That should solve that particular issue. The stumbling on its face coming out of idle with a quick throttle shot is 99% related to bad gas fucking my carb. I plan on running it to empty and then pulling the carb, cleaning it, and then topping off with a fresh tank of premium. Also, switched to a 10 micron filter to hopefully catch any malingering rust bits.

Anyways, I think I am finally zeroing in on the streetability issues.

While we were in St Louis, we stopped at Alpha Tech Electronics. If you are looking to buy vintage gear, this is the place! They also sell some new gear and have 2 listening rooms with quite a few speakers.

Hell yeah! Lots of nice eye candy there:+1:t3:

Had a pair of those Altec Lansing A7-500 VOTT speakers back in the 1970’s. I bought the Altec compression drivers, 511B horns and 15 inch 416-8A woofers. My brother built the wooden flared horns while I sliced up the large cabinet panels on my Dad’s vintage Craftsman table saw. In the summer, I’d set them up for stereo playback on the front lawn, spaced apart by about 20 feet or so.
